There are places that are more than just accommodations. They become a second home, a retreat where one feels completely comfortable and welcome. For me, The Dolder Grand in Zurich is such a place..

A View to Fall in Love With
The Dolder Grand in Zurich is a well-known and internationally acclaimed luxury hotel with a stunning location on the Adlisberg, offering a fantastic view of Lake Zurich and the Alps. Although it’s close to Zurich’s city center, it’s set in a quiet, green environment.
For many years, I have regularly visited the Dolder Grand, and every time I drive up the impressive driveway, I feel a mix of excitement and a sense of coming home.

Historic Charm and Modern Elegance
The hotel opened in 1899 and was extensively modernized between 2004 and 2008 under the direction of architect Sir Norman Foster (*1935). It combines historic charm with modern design, offering elegant rooms and suites. Each space is designed with meticulous attention to detail, creating a harmonious blend of tradition and modernity.
Genuine Warmth from the Heart
What truly makes the Dolder Grand special, however, is the incredibly dedicated and attentive staff. From the moment you step into the hotel, you don’t feel like just another guest. You are welcomed with warmth that feels genuine, not forced. Every smile and gesture is an expression of true hospitality, making it easy to feel immediately at home and welcome.
The concierge team, led by Chief Concierge Markus Dorner, has helped me organize heartfelt birthday surprises on so many occasions. And it was here, at the Dolder Grand, that I fell in love with my husband. For me, it’s the most beautiful hotel in the world—not just because of its luxurious amenities but also because I hold so many personal and emotional memories here. The staff is invaluable, treating every guest with exceptional care. Mr. Dorner has been by my side for years with any request, and he has become very dear to my heart.

A Special Retreat for the Whole Family
For my children, the Dolder Grand has been a special place from the very beginning. They lovingly call it the "Barbie Castle," and every time we come here, we enjoy the unique atmosphere. The rooms are a true paradise – tastefully furnished and with every comfort you could wish for. Every detail is well thought out, from the soft bed to the luxurious bathrooms.

Excellent Service and Amenities
Another highlight is the first-class service. Whether you’re enjoying an exquisite dinner at the restaurant, a relaxing massage at the spa, or a drink at the bar, the service is always impeccable. The staff is not only professional but also warm and attentive. They ensure that every stay at the Dolder Grand becomes an unforgettable experience.

Among the many amenities are an outstanding spa, a well-equipped fitness center where personal training is also available, tennis courts, and a beautifully located golf course. On the wellness floor, there’s also a small shop and a spa café that offers a delicious selection of drinks and food. The wellness area is simply breathtaking. There are separate areas for men and women, as well as a small shared sauna and beautiful heated stone loungers for relaxation. The indoor pool and terrace invite you to linger, especially in summer, while in winter, I love using the whirlpool. As a big fan of fitness and wellness, I find this place perfect for my needs. There is even a hair salon that completes the pampering experience.

Culinary Highlights and Artistic Delights
The Dolder Grand features several outstanding restaurants, including “The Restaurant,” led by fine-dining chef Heiko Nieder, which holds not only two Michelin stars but also 19 Gault Millau points. The cuisine is exquisite, combining local and international influences in creative ways. However, I also enjoy dining outside the hotel, as Zurich offers a fantastic culinary scene, which I’ll share more about soon.
The hotel also features numerous artworks by famous artists like Salvador Dalí and Fernando Botero. These pieces are displayed throughout the hotel, adding to its elegant atmosphere. A visit to the Dolder Grand feels like a museum visit.

In the winter months, a breathtaking Christmas tree adorns the entrance hall, perfectly capturing the festive spirit.
Leisure Activities Nearby
Near the hotel, you’ll find the public Dolder Bad and the Dolder ice rink, offering additional recreational fun. The Zurich Zoo is also just a stone’s throw away and makes for a great family outing. One of my favorite restaurants in Zurich, the Adlisberg, is also nearby and always worth a visit.

A Place for Special Occasions
The Dolder Grand is also a popular venue for events and meetings. Its beautiful rooms and modern technology make it the perfect location for weddings, celebrations, and business meetings.
More Than Just a Hotel
I can’t emphasize enough how much I cherish my time at the Dolder Grand. It’s more than just a luxury hotel – it’s a retreat where I truly feel at home. A huge thank you to the entire team for the many unforgettable moments and the warm hospitality. I’m already looking forward to my next visit!
