"Saking ring rasa tresna, jagat punika dados luwih ayu."
(With love in our hearts, the world becomes a more beautiful place.)

AYANA Resort & Villas is located on an expansive estate perched above the cliffs of Jimbaran in southern Bali – surrounded by tropical nature and offering spectacular views of the ocean. The drive from Ngurah Rai International Airport takes just 15–20 minutes, and even along the way, you realize: you’re heading into a truly special world.
The Dream of Bali – and How I Discovered AYANA Villas
Bali had been on my travel wish list for a long time. So it was all the more important for me to find the perfect place to stay – somewhere that offered more than just a beautiful hotel room. I was looking for privacy, peace and quiet, culinary variety – and a certain level of comfort that would make the stay truly special. After weeks of research, I came across AYANA Villas – and was instantly impressed: 90 hectares of tropical gardens, over 30 restaurants and bars, a spa that promises total relaxation – and a special level of service exclusively for villa guests.
Our Journey to Paradise
We flew with Qatar Airways from Düsseldorf to Doha, and from there continued on to Denpasar in Bali. Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed by the AYANA team. A driver took us directly to a private reception area – exclusively for villa guests. There, we were offered a fresh coconut and had time to settle in peacefully. And the best part: we were even invited to enjoy breakfast right away – in a beautiful area reserved just for villa guests.

Exclusive Breakfast Area for Villa Guests
This private breakfast area was the perfect way to start the day – quiet, elegant, and with a fantastic view of the River Pool, which winds through the property like a green ribbon. The breakfast selection was incredibly diverse: tropical fruits, freshly squeezed juices, international specialties, warm Balinese dishes, pastries, pancakes, à la carte egg dishes – all beautifully presented and served with the kind of attentive service that leaves nothing to be desired.
In the evening, this area transforms into the elegant DAVA Steak & Seafood Restaurant, where we enjoyed a truly wonderful experience with a romantic atmosphere, atmospheric live music, and even the chance to request songs.
Our First Impression: A Villa Moment with Wow Effect
After breakfast, our personal butler took us to our villa by golf cart – an exclusive service available only to villa guests at AYANA Resort. Even the ride through the lush gardens was a dream – surrounded by tropical plants, impressive architecture, and beautifully maintained paths.

And then we were simply in awe: the villa was incredibly spacious, open in layout, and designed in traditional Balinese style with so much attention to detail. The bathroom – an absolute highlight – featured a huge bathtub with a direct view of the ocean, beautifully accented by artfully arranged flower petals.

And the outdoor area? Just wow. A private tropical garden, cozy loungers, a private pool – and that breathtaking view over the cliffs and out to the open sea. For me, it was instantly clear: this would be my favorite place in Bali.

Sacred Residents of the Resort – The Monkeys of Bali
Monkeys hold a special place in Balinese culture. They are considered sacred animals and are closely associated with the Hindu god Hanuman. At AYANA Resort, they are a natural part of everyday life – after all, they’ve been living here far longer than we have. This is their natural habitat, and as guests, we are merely sharing it with them. All the more reason to treat them with respect and remember that we are only visitors. There are dedicated feeding stations throughout the resort to give them space – because they truly are unique personalities.

One afternoon, I had a very special visitor: a monkey quietly approached – apparently in search of a little snack. And sure enough, my German chips must have been too tempting. In a brief moment of distraction, they were gone – and the monkey happily retreated with his prize. I have great respect for these animals and was truly impressed by how naturally they live here. This resort isn’t just a paradise for us humans – it’s theirs, too.
Culinary Highlights – A Taste of AYANA
As a villa guest at AYANA, you're in for a true culinary treat – spread across an expansive 90 hectares. The selection of restaurants is impressive, each with its own unique charm and character. We didn’t make it to all of them – some were so good, we simply had to go back. Here’s a little taste of our personal favorites:
DAVA Steak & Seafood – Dinner Under the Stars
In the evening, the peaceful breakfast area transformed into the elegant DAVA Steak & Seafood. We sat outside, overlooking the romantically lit River Pool – the starry sky above us, and a menu in front of us that left nothing to be desired. There was live music on several evenings, which made the atmosphere even more special. And if you wanted, you could even request songs – which we happily did.

Kubu Beach Club – A Touch of the Caribbean in Bali
The Kubu Beach Club felt like jumping into the Caribbean to me: the turquoise-coloured water, the laid-back music, the tropical drinks - and that special light at sunset. We experienced so many unforgettable sunsets there - every single one was a goosebump moment.

The journey down to the beach was an experience in itself: a scenic elevator takes you down the cliffside – and the moment you reach the bottom, with the view of the ocean and the private Kubu Beach stretch before you, it truly takes your breath away. The beach is reserved exclusively for AYANA guests. Especially for those who love not just pools but also the sea and sand, it’s an absolute highlight.

What makes it even more special: there are comfortable loungers where you can relax and unwind – perfect for a few quiet hours with a view of the sea. Food is also served at Kubu Beach Club, so you can indulge throughout the day without ever having to leave this little slice of paradise.

Rock Bar – Golden Hour Magic
The Rock Bar was an experience you won't forget. Built into the rocks, located directly on the water - and with a view that makes every sunset something special. As villa guests, we had preferential access and were able to secure the best spots.
But what makes the Rock Bar really unique is the atmosphere: a DJ plays regularly and creates a relaxed atmosphere with music that fits in perfectly with the surroundings. The mixture of the sound of the waves, the sunset, great cocktails and subtle beats is hard to put into words - you have to experience it.
No wonder that the Rock Bar officially one of the best hotel bars in the world. A very special place that absolutely deserves its own article (article to follow shortly).

Kisik Lounge – Where Sunset Meets Serenity
Kisik Lounge was our favorite spot for romantic moments together. Located right by the coast, with views of the ocean and the sky glowing in the most beautiful colors as the sun slowly set. We often simply enjoyed a drink there and soaked in the atmosphere.

KISIK Seafood & Grill – Dining Right by the Water
In the evenings, we loved taking just a few steps over to KISIK Seafood & Grill. The scent of freshly grilled fish hung in the air, accompanied by the soothing sound of the waves in the background – and a wonderfully attentive team that always took care of our every wish. While the focus is on seafood, they also served fantastic steaks – perfectly cooked.
The chef fulfilled every extra wish we had – with such kindness and a genuine passion for what he does. It was obvious at first glance: this is someone who truly loves what he does. And you could taste it in every bite.

Sami Sami – Where Italy Meets Bali
Whenever we were in the mood for pizza, pasta, or antipasti, Sami Sami was the place to go. The location, with its view of the ocean, was stunning, and the dishes were solid – even if not every preparation matched my personal taste. Still, we went there several times, because sometimes, all you need is a comforting plate of pasta in the evening sun.

Honzen – Private Teppanyaki Moments on Our Honeymoon
Our evening at Honzen was truly special. We had the entire teppanyaki area to ourselves – and the menu was lovingly prepared just for us as a honeymoon couple. On another evening, we were even given a private dining space – once again as a thoughtful gesture in honor of our honeymoon. In addition to the live cooking experience, Honzen also offers a separate à la carte menu with a variety of Japanese specialties. These warm surprises and the genuine hospitality made the evening absolutely unforgettable for us.

Sumizen – A Taste of Japan in Bali
Located right next to Honzen, Sumizen offers authentic Japanese cuisine with a focus on sushi and finely tuned creations. What was particularly nice: during our stay, we were also allowed to choose dishes here, even though we were actually sitting in Honzen - a gesture that shows how much flexibility and hospitality is practised at AYANA.

Saying “I Do” in Paradise
It’s no wonder that AYANA is such a popular location for weddings. Whether barefoot on the beach, on a terrace overlooking the ocean, or surrounded by a romantic garden setting – the backdrop is simply breathtaking. During our stay, we saw several wedding couples, and it was beautiful to witness how this place brings people together in such a meaningful way.
A Variety of Accommodations – Something for Everyone
What makes AYANA so special to me is not just the incredible size and beauty of the estate, but also the wide variety of accommodations. Whether it’s the exclusive AYANA Villas, the classic AYANA Resort, the modern RIMBA, or the elegant AYANA Segara – there truly is an option for everyone, regardless of budget. The guest mix is pleasantly diverse, with many visitors from Asian countries – always respectful and warm, which creates a very welcoming and relaxed atmosphere.
Refreshing Moments – Pools Across the Resort
Even if you’re not staying in a villa with a private pool, you certainly won’t miss out on poolside fun. Across the entire AYANA estate, you’ll find several beautiful pool areas – some with ocean views, others nestled in lush gardens. What’s especially nice: each hotel area has its own distinct character, and that goes for the pools as well. Whether you prefer to relax on a lounger or sip a drink at the pool bar – everyone is sure to find their favorite spot to cool off and unwind.
The AYANA App – Your Digital Companion at the Resort

I found the AYANA app especially practical: it guides you through the entire resort, helps you find your way around, and offers direct access to information, bookings, and services – reliable, user-friendly, and simply smart.
Active Mornings – Fitness & Spa Café
As beautiful as the exclusive villa breakfast area was, I preferred to start my mornings with a workout. The AYANA Gym is well-equipped, clean, and modern – a place where working out is actually fun. Afterwards, I always treated myself to a fresh detox juice at the Spa Café – a lovely routine that quickly became my own little ritual.

Relaxed Golfing with a View
If you're in the mood for a casual round of golf, you won’t be disappointed: the resort features a small course that’s perfect for a relaxed game in between. It’s not designed for professionals, but it’s just right for swinging a club with a view of the greenery – and simply having fun.

Relaxed Wellness Moments
The attention to detail at AYANA is also evident in the spa area. The large thalassotherapy pool with its warm seawater, various massage zones, and jet areas was a true highlight for me. For those who wish, Spa on the Rocks offers treatments with a direct view of the ocean and absolute tranquility. A peaceful place – perfect for unwinding after an active day.
The extensive spa menu ranges from traditional Balinese massages to rejuvenating rituals, detox programs, and beauty treatments – ideal for bringing body and mind back into balance.
Getting Around – A World of Its Own
Despite the resort’s vast size, it’s easy to find your way around thanks to a complimentary tram that runs regularly between the different areas – almost like a small city. Villa guests also benefit from a personal butler service with a golf cart, providing comfortable transport to restaurants, the spa, or anywhere within the hotel grounds. Getting to the beach, however, does require a short walk – but that’s part of the charm of this beautifully spacious resort.
Final thoughts
A place that truly enchanted us, created lasting memories – and proved that a long journey is more than worth it. I cherished every single moment there, and I know: one day, I’ll definitely return.
Even though we experienced so much, there’s still so much left to discover – this vast estate holds countless more treasures. For me, it was an absolute dream vacation – and most definitely not my last visit to AYANA.
