There are places you step into and immediately feel: this is right. The Oberoi Beach Resort Mauritius is one of those places. Not because it's dramatically staged — but because it feels genuine from the very first second. Calm. Thoughtful. Warm-hearted.
I arrived feeling a little tired and drained. The weeks before had been quite exhausting. But after just a few hours at The Oberoi, I could already feel myself slowing down and starting to relax.
Where Is The Oberoi Beach Resort Mauritius Located?
The resort sits on the northwest coast of Mauritius, right on Turtle Bay — a protected marine park in Balaclava. The location is truly special: peaceful and away from the crowds, yet easy to reach. Port Louis, the island's lively capital, is about 20 minutes away. If you're in the mood for restaurants, bars, or shopping, Grand Baie has everything your heart could desire — also just a short drive away. The airport is roughly 50 minutes away, and our transfer, like everything else, was perfectly organised.
Arrival – Where Luxury Begins Quietly
Even the journey there went smoothly — exactly what we had come to expect from this resort.We were picked up directly at the airport and taken to the resort in a relaxed manner – no searching, no stress, no long transfer. Once we arrived, I was greeted with a welcome drink before we were driven to our villa in a golf cart. And right at that moment, the holiday began.
The Presidential Villa – Privacy and a View You'll Never Forget
We stayed in the Presidential Villa — and it was a decision I didn't regret for a single second. With a private pool, direct access to the beach, and a view of the Indian Ocean that was different every single evening.
The sunsets from there — that atmosphere, that peace, the light over the water — those are moments you simply soak in.
Our villa also came with a separate bungalow .The Oberoi management was incredibly generous in allowing our daughter to join us spontaneously and stay with us – something we were very grateful for.
Wherever You Look, Relaxation Awaits
What fascinated me most about The Oberoi was that there were beautiful places to relax everywhere in the resort. Multiple pools, dreamy lounge areas, and the long sandy beach right in front of the property — you'll always find a spot that feels just right. Whether you're looking for company or simply want to be alone.
The whole resort has an atmosphere that makes you feel: here, I can just be. No plans, no pressure – just genuine rest.
Fitness – Starting the Day with Energy
Every other morning, my husband and I started with a workout – strength and cardio training. The fitness facilities are well-equipped and really did have everything we needed. For me, moving in the morning is simply the best way to start the day – and the conditions here were ideal for it.
Aditya – The Person Who Made Everything Feel Effortless
Some people bring a real warmth and attentiveness to their work that you rarely come across. Aditya was one of those people.
He looked after us throughout our entire stay – in the villa, in the restaurants, everywhere. After just two or three days, he already knew what we needed before we’d said a word.
Almost every morning we pre-ordered our breakfast – exactly what we wanted – and Aditya brought it to the room promptly and with great care. This personal touch made the start of every day something very special.
When my husband was recovering from ankle surgery and couldn’t walk long distances, the resort simply took care of it – without us having to ask. The next morning, a wheelchair was at our door. That kind of thoughtfulness stays with you.
For us, Aditya was without doubt the warmest and most attentive person we have ever had looking after us at any resort.
Housekeeping – When Details Become an Experience
Housekeeping at the Oberoi goes far beyond cleaning the room. We regularly came back to find small, sweet surprises on the bed – carefully arranged and always left with thought.
What I’ll never forget was how the team decorated our room for my husband’s birthday. Everything had been prepared with so much care, and the atmosphere was magical. That is what real hospitality looks like.
And you feel this throughout the entire resort. Everything here is done with care and attention. Nothing feels accidental. Everything is considered with the guests in mind.
Restaurants – Outstanding Quality, No Matter Where You Dine
What really impressed me at The Oberoi Mauritius was that no matter where we ate or what we ordered, the quality was consistently outstanding. That’s something you can’t take for granted, and it impressed me every single time.
In the evenings we enjoyed both the main restaurant and, on occasion, On the Rocks. The latter is set above the water – with a beautiful view over the ocean. The atmosphere is romantic and intimate, with a soft breeze drifting through the evening.Dinner there is really something special.
Beach Dinner – An Evening to Remember
We had a total of three beach dinners – and every single one was unforgettable in its own way.
But one of them was the highlight.
It was my husband’s birthday. And he had absolutely no idea.
I had planned everything in advance with Mr Trivedi, the Food & Beverage Manager, Aditya and their incredible team. What they created went beyond anything i had imagined:
A saxophonist performed live on the beach. Dancers and a fire show made the evening magical. A private screen showed a personal video. Everything came together exactly as I had hoped.
And on top of that:one of my husband's favourite dishes — Fondue Bourguignon — was made especially for us, right there on the beach. Every wish was fulfilled and everything was taken care of.
That was no ordinary dinner. That was an evening we will remember forever.
Spa – A Peaceful Escape Worth Your Time
The spa at the Oberoi isn’t the most modern – I’ll be upfront about that. But it genuinely won me over. The atmosphere is calm and welcoming, the treatments are of a high standard, and you leave feeling properly relaxed and refreshed. If you’re looking for real downtime, you’ll find it here.
What Else the Resort Has to Offer
The Oberoi Mauritius offers far more than what we made use of ourselves. Water sports, snorkeling, cultural activities, excursions — if you want, you can fill your stay with plenty of experiences. If you simply want to switch off, you'll find your place here too. The resort lets you choose — and I think that's fantastic.
My Conclusion – A Heartfelt Recommendation
I arrived exhausted – and within just a few hours I felt a deep sense of calm settle over me. That says more than anything else I could write.
The Oberoi Mauritius is a resort that truly listens to its guests. It’s a place where you feel completely comfortable and welcome from the first moment to the last.A sanctuary for real relaxation, special moments and people who value quality and warmth.

Where Can You Dine at The Oberoi Mauritius?
The resort offers several wonderful dining and entertaining options. The Restaurant is the main restaurant, open for breakfast and dinner, featuring international, Mauritian and Indian cuisine. On the Rocks offers relaxed, à la carte waterfront dining with stunning views of the Indian Ocean, perfect for a romantic meal. The Gunpowder Room is a restored 18th-century colonial building, open to adults only on selected evenings, serving a communal Creole menu. The Herb Trail is a unique outdoor experience with slow-cooked dishes from an underground fire pit. And The Bar is open all day, with sea views and live evening music.
Personally, I'd particularly recommend On the Rocks for the evening – romantic, slightly elevated with a view of the water.
When Is the Best Time to Travel to Mauritius?
The drier, cooler months from May to October are generally considered the best time to visit – with pleasant temperatures, lower humidity and less rain. The warmer summer season from November to April brings more heat and higher humidity, and from January to March is officially cyclone season – which can mean unsettled weather and heavier rainfall.
I was there in February 2026 – right in the middle of the rainier season. We were extremely lucky with the weather.A pleasant breeze accompanied us throughout our entire stay, and the weather was warm and beautiful. We also really enjoyed that it wasn't peak season – no crowds, and the resort felt wonderfully peaceful.
From May to October, the most reliable conditions can be expected, but Mauritius is honestly a destination that can be visited all year round. However, those travelling in February or March should be aware that the probability of rain is higher. For us, it was perfect – but every trip is different.
